The South Carolina Native Plant Society approached us wanting to update their website to automate some of the tasks that were currently being handled manually. We built a WordPress powered site that streamlined two of their main components – memberships and plant identification. The web responsibilities were previously handled by a single a volunteer that had to know the basics of HTML code, while the new website allowed multiple volunteers to easily update website via the WordPress administration panel.
The new member form allows people to enter their contact information, select their membership level and select interests within the society. The membership renewal form allows current members to pay their dues and indicate any new interests where they would like to volunteer.
The plant identification form allows visitors to upload images of plants and enter other pertinent information that would assist a volunteer to determine the plant’s species. The form submissions also create a new post, so that each plant identification can be shared to other visitors and get their feedback.
Other aspects of the website include a calendar of events for the society, information about plant education, news updates for field trips and other functions. Both the calendar of events and the recent news section are categorized by region, so visitors can see what is going in their area or state-wide.Visit Website
